No More Generational Curses for the Sons of God
Exodus 20:5-6 (AMP) – You shall not bow down yourself to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, [Isaiah 42:8; 48:11.] But showing mercy and steadfast love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.
Those that specialize in preaching generational curses often quote the scripture above. Yes, verse 5 talks about visiting the iniquities of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate God. Do you hate God? If you are not a hater of God, then it is not addressed to you! However, these preachers do not tell you about verse 6. This verse promises those who walk uprightly with God, that God will show mercy and steadfast love unto them to a thousand generations. These people that want to place generational curse upon you conveniently forget what is written in the book of Ezekiel:
Ezekiel 18:19-20 (AMP) – Yet do you say, Why does not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son has done that which is lawful and right and has kept all My statutes and has done them, he shall surely live. The soul that sins, it [is the one that] shall die. The son shall not bear and be punished for the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear and be punished for the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him only, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon the wicked only.
The above scriptures clearly state that it is the soul that sins that will die. The son is not permitted to bear his father’s iniquity when he has not sinned. The son could only bear and be punished for his own iniquity. However, if the son is a son of God, his sins and iniquities have been wiped away by the blood of Jesus Christ. God promises never to remember them anymore – Hebrews 8:12. His righteous is now in Christ Jesus. The righteousness of the righteous is upon him only and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him only. Case closed!
Every believer must know how to rightly divide the word of truth. It is dangerous to read a verse of scripture and run out and built a doctrine on it. When you take a text out of its context you will only be left with the “con” which can con a person that is not sensitive in the spirit. You must search the scriptures for yourself and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you instead of swallowing some skewed doctrine.
My argument concerning generational curses is based on the New Covenant. The issue is a matter of your understanding of your generation. To which generation do you belong? Whose son are you? Your answer determines your take on this issue. Are you a son of God? Every son of God is like the wind!
John 3:8 (AMP) – The wind blows (breathes) where it wills; and though you hear its sound, yet you neither know where it comes from nor where it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.
I have not heard of anyone that trapped the wind and put a curse on it. The true son of God is a source of confusion to the unregenerated minds. They cannot understand him. They neither understand where he is coming from nor where he is going to. You cannot curse him because he is blessed of the Lord.
Anyone that is born again is born of God. His Father is God. There are no curses or darkness in God. Such a person is a new creature in Christ. If he is a new creature, what generation are we talking about? His origin is in God. He is an original! The old spirit in that person is gone and he has received a new spirit. He is of the generation of Christ. Christ came to deliver people from curses and not to bring them under other curses. You are of the generation of Christ and there are no curses in His generation. Alleluia!
