Called to An Abundant Life
10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
2 Peter 1:3
3 For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue).
Jesus came to bring us into our inheritance. The inheritance is that you, the sons of God, may have abundant life, an overflowing life here on earth, not just when you get to heaven. There is no death in heaven! He has given you, by His divine power, all that you need for life on earth and to lead a godly life. This comes by having a full, personal knowledge of God and by acting on that knowledge. We hear the Word of God, believe it in our hearts, say it with our mouths and act upon it.
Everything that Jesus accomplished on the cross for you is available as inheritance to you. Now, they are not goals of themselves to be attained but they are given to you as benefits of your citizenship of the kingdom of God. Going to heaven is a benefit of citizenship of the kingdom of heaven. God knows your needs and He does not want you to seek these benefits as the Gentiles do because you already have them as sons of God. We have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus. The answers to the promises are yes and amen in Christ Jesus. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
31 Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear? 32 For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all.
33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
Seeking His kingdom involves submitting yourself completely to His plans and purposes for your life. It starts with asking Jesus Christ into your heart to be your Lord and Savior. Then your thirst, hunger and meditation focus on things above only and not on things on this earth as you follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in you.
When you find His kingdom, everything that you need, as a son of God, to live the kingdom life is available to you as a citizen. When your heart is after His kingdom and you understand your position as a son and your righteous standing before Him He causes you to reign on earth.
